So it seems in Piedmont only a certain quantity of wine can be classified Barolo & Barbaresco DOCG. The rest can only be sold as table wine even though the production is practically the same.
This wine came from TJ's based on a recommendation. Only $5.99.
A very easy drinking wine, a nice balance of acidity and dryness.
Went great with Chicken & Apple Sausage and cheese filled Perogi with grilled onions.

I've had this wine and loved it. Incredible depth for a wine at this price level--very similar to a Barolo, but at a fraction of the price.

That wine was introduced this year at the Liquor Control Board of Ontario (LCBO) stores, for about $10 something (alcohol is outrageously taxed in Canada.) I agree that it was of exceptional quality, like a barolo with the roundness of a vino nobile. For some reasons unknown to me, the LCBO discontinued it, which is silly because it was selling fairly well. Pity.
