2006 McManis Pinot Noir

Recommended by East Beach Wine, this was an excellent value for $11 and surprising as this is their first Pinot Noir.
The 2006 Pinot Noir is medium ruby in color. A layer of hazelnut, which is contributed from oak, accompanies aromas of ripe cherries and plums. Rich fruit flavors with hints of milk chocolate linger in the elegant finish.

Recommended GSM blends

GSM = Grenache, Mourvedre, Syrah

2004 D'Arenberg The Stump Jump
$8 are you kidding? What a find!
The Stump Jump Red is an example of the result of blending the two backbone varieties of McLaren Vale, Grenache and Shiraz. This is a rich, soft and flavorful red in the traditional McLaren Vale style. Mulberry and plum flavors from the Grenache combine with the blackberry, spice and white pepper of the Shiraz.

2004 Zaca Mesa Z Cuvee
$12.99 at Cost Plus, run out and get a case- now!
Each grape adds its own nuance: Grenache adds rich raspberry flavors; Mourvèdre brings notes of blueberry; Syrah, flavors of blackberry and ripe tannins and a touch of Cinsaut’s dusty berry notes.
In a word- scrumdiddilyumptious!
